Do you support a Palin presidential run? Here’s a useful guide to her accomplishments.

If you’re like Diva Ellen and me — avidly supporting a Palin presidential run — it can be a daunting challenge to present her many qualifications to your friends and family members who are non-political junkies and thus, vulnerable to the lamestream media/pop culture PDS-infected smear machine. Or if they are registered Republicans, chances are at least a few of them have bought into the establishment GOP nonsense of Palin’s “unelectability”.

So what’s a Palin supporter to do? Get informed and talk to everyone you know about Sarah Palin — armed with facts. Here’s a handy guide, courtesy of our Facebook friend Jelayne Sessler:

What was Governor Palin’s legacy in Alaska?

Before the Obama campaign and their media allies set out to destroy her during the 2008 campaign and beyond, Sarah Palin had earned the highest approval ratings of any governor in the United States of America. See this Weekly Standard article for more information.

Palin was also a courageous reformer and whistle-blower who took on entrenched interests in her own party, most notably the leader of the Republican Party in Alaska — and won. In 2007, she signed ethics reform into law. Read all about it in the Anchorage Daily News.

As governor, Sarah Palin was also responsible for getting the largest energy project in North American history underway after several decades of interminably delays in Alaska. See this piece from for the full story.

But, but isn’t Palin just another social conservative who only appeals to Christians?

As much as establishment Republicans and the lamestream media like to paint her exclusively as a pro-life, pro-traditional values social conservative (which I also love about her), the fact is Sarah Palin has a proven track record of fiscal conservatism, including:

The ACES program for Big Oil companies, outlined in the Wall St. Journal

Enactment of the largest veto cuts in Alaska’s history, described in this Alaska Journal of Commerce article

Sale of private governor’s jet and firing of governor’s chef after taking office

Savings of millions of dollars for the state of Alaska

In addition to all of the salient points raised by Jelayne, I would also like to add that Sarah Palin has been stalwart and courageous in taking the fight directly to Obama for nearly three years now. She’s also proven her effectiveness and savvy in using social media platforms like Facebook and twitter to advance the cause of conservatism, not to mention getting Tea Party candidates elected in November, 2010.

And while the squishes in the Republican Party sat back and watched, Palin was relentless and falsely savaged in the media for somehow being responsible for the fact that a mentally-ill shooter opened fire on Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her constituents in Arizona, resulting in death for some, grave injury for others. Where were Newt Gingrich, Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney, Michael Steele, Rick Santorum and others? Not one of them came to her defense, which speaks volumes about their character.

So just keep that in mind whenever your hear “Republican operatives” poo-pooing a Palin candidacy or proclaiming her unelectable.

As for the left, of course they want to promote the fallacy of Palin as a non-serious challenge to Obama. They understand that with one phrase, “death panels” in a 2009 Facebook note, she redefined the debate on Obamacare and helped to motivate citizens to attend town halls to express their opposition. The same is true for just about every other critical issue — from energy to national security to our alliance with Israel.

The bottom line: We as Palin patriots have our work cut out for us as a result of the relentless media/pop culture character assassination over the past three years. But it can be done successfully, as long as we know the facts about Palin and have the guts, willingness and tenacity to continually confront the uninformed. I firmly believe that once most voters truly know the real Sarah Palin and her record, they will rally behind her — especially with gasoline prices on the rise and the continuing hostility of the Obama administration toward domestic drilling.

As Rush always encourages conservatives — DO NOT LET THE MEDIA SELECT OUR CANDIDATE!

Furthermore, it might be useful to point out to your GOP friends that no matter who runs with the “R” after their name and challenges their messiah, he or she will be subject to the basest, most repugnant attacks, too. In effect, they will also be “Palinized”. So using that as reason not to support her is highly misguided and simply wrongheaded. When you look at her record, her rhetoric, her charisma and her willingness to confront Obama — fake charges of “racism” be damned — I don’t know how any serious conservative can refuse to support Sarah Palin.

Please go read this Politics Daily news story from January. It completely debunks the falsehood that Pawlenty, Santorum et al did not come to Palin’s defense. In fact, they did.

This whole “courageous woman under attack” victimology meme is loopy and unpresidential. Is this presidential politics or one of those interminable four-hour-long Lifetime movies? Politics is spilling over with “the basest, most repugnant attacks.”

  9. Johno says:

If you’re looking for a female Republican candidate to run for President, Michele Bachmann is better and more electable.

    • Jim Meyer says:

On what basis do you declare Congresswoman Bachmann “better and more electable” than Governor Palin?

If it’s because, as many Palin-haters say, Governor Palin has been attacked so viciously by the Dodo Bird Media that she’s “radioactive” and people won’t vote for her, I can assure you that if and when Congresswoman Bachmann declares her candidacy for the White House, the left and their allies in the media and entertainment establishments will haul out and sharpen the very same long knives they’ve been using on Governor Palin for the last two and a half years. I have no doubt that right now, as I’m writing this, the hateful leftist shrew Tina Fey is working on some insipid skit with which to mock and insult Congresswoman Bachmann on “Saturday Night Live”. By the time the primaries and caucuses roll around, Congresswoman Bachmann will be every bit as “toxic” as you think Governor Palin is.

Ideologically, Governor Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann are identicall twins. There isn’t enough philosophical difference between the two esteemed ladies to actually make a difference.

So again, by what logic can you argue that Congresswoman Bachmann is “better and more electable” than Governor Palin?

  10. Diva Daria says:

Silver Fiddle, Tim Pawlenty actually offered an underhanded “defense”, noting that he himself would not have used the cross-hairs imagery even though it has been used for years by both parties. And to suggest that the attacks on Palin are simply par-for-the-political course is just flat-out wrong.

From the moment she emerged on the stage at the RNC and gave that electrifying speech, the Obama minions in the media set out to absolutely destroy her, sinking to new levels of depravity, whether it was Andrew Sullivan claiming she wasn’t really Trig’s mother or the repugnant attacks on little Trig himself. Why is it that Dem politicians’ kids are off-limits?

Why indeed is it that the Obama-slobbering media spread more falsehoods about her, including the blatant LIE that she wanted to ban books in Wasilla?

Why is it that after Palin returned to her job as governor in Alaska, the media still would not leave her alone? Do you suppose the collusion between the DNC and Obama operatives to exploit the very ethics law that Palin signed as governor to destroy her is unprecedented??? Please name me ONE, just one former VP candidate that went back to their state to do their job only to be relentlessly smeared the way Palin was? You can’t.

I suggest you watch John Ziegler’s Media Malpractice to get the facts. Palin is damned if she defends herself, damned if she doesn’t.

Apparently in your eyes, none of her accomplishments matter. It’s your prerogative to support or not support any candidate. But please don’t tell me that Palin is playing the victim or give the lamestream media a free pass. She has been savaged by them like no other politician in recent memory. And she’s not only still standing, she’s the driving force behind the Tea Party movement — and the reason so many good conservatives got elected in November of 2010.

    • Silverfiddle says:

“Please name me ONE, just one former VP candidate that went back to their state to do their job only to be relentlessly smeared the way Palin was? You can’t. ”

So? That proves nothing. It’s irrelevant. Name me a governor who quick half way through his term and went on to get elected president.

Her accomplishments do matter, and they are good ones. Her problem is that everyone else in the GOP field has more.

When the cornerstone of someone’s argument is how the person is being attacked by the liberal meanies in the media, it may be time to rethink the argument.

      • mrl says:

Michele Bachmann is not a national politician. you need a national politician with 100 percent name recognition to go up against Obama. Palin has it. I like Bachmann, but she’s not a national pol. we may know who she is out of the 10-15 percent in the country who really keep an eye on politics but the rest of the voting bloc doesn’t.
sorry bro, a Congressperson is the least likely to ever be elected into office. it hasn’t happened in a long time. and it’s for a reason. has nothing to do with experience more or less- it has to do with the fact that Congresspeople are hated so much on the right or the left. in many ways they don’t have to make tough decisions. they just have to show up and vote. and sometimes they don’t even do that. they are not executives and most of them are lawyers. lawyers are hated as well. our sitting pres is a lawyer & look at how that’s working out for us. we don’t need another leader to be a lawyer. Michele should just bow the hell out and continue to be a voice for the conservatives of America in Congress.
Palin went back to her state and yes she did resign but she did exactly what she said she would, she supported a lot of good people and helped them get elected. the media thought she was resigning over a scandal and it never happened. she kept her word.

Silver Fiddle, you are never going to get my point about the Alinsky tactics used against Palin and the fact that the ethics charges were costing Alaska taxpayers MILLIONS, not to mention causing her to spend the majority of time defending herself instead of doing the people’s business. Oh and yes, it was bankrupting her family too. Where is your outrage at the collusion of the DNC and Obama operatives to deliberately destroy her? This was unprecedented, and that is exactly my point. But by refusing to understand that, you play right into the left’s hands.

Palin also accomplished more in her half-term that many governors do in a full term.

    • silverfiddle says:

I have a pretty good understanding of leftist tactics. That they use such tactics against her does not qualify her to be president. The leftist press has gone after every conservative, not just Palin.

You’ve got to do better than attack anyone who doesn’t agree with you, speaking of tactics. The topic is Palin, not me.

  13. Diva Daria says:

I’ve been presenting the facts about Palin dating back to before she was even the VP nominee, back when I watched her great interviews on energy with Larry Kudlow (who is also a big fan). I have repeatedly stated her accomplishments in countless articles on my old blogs Palin-Drone and Dariaanne, Canada Free Press, Parcbench and now at The Conservative Diva.

I have not attacked you Silver Fiddle, just presented context as to why Palin resigned as AK governor which is also necessary to state for those influenced by the “quitter” meme (e.g. voters) along with her many accomplishments as a biz owner, city council member, mayor, oil and gas commissioner, governor and Tea Party engine (she has a pretty impressive record in terms of the November 2010 midterms). So I’ve been relentless presenting the facts all along.

    Thanks for the advice! ;)
